Melou stomps up the stairs to Angela's room and when he enters, the door slams nicely behind him. He places the fox gently enough in the pile with the other toys he acquired the day before and then slumps in a chair, sulking.

If Angela is around, she's got one broody prince on her hands.

Angela sighs inwardly. That was quick.

And he needs to talk so she just nods and listens, looking a little worried.

He's always tearing himself up inside and I can't help or anything...

Melou just continues.

"And fine, I wasn't all that nice to him last time, but fuck, he'd just told me he didn't care about us or Mam and that my father didn't really care about me and I was fourteen."

God, that sucks, she thinks, but she just nods, and the look on her face is...very concerned, very sympathetic. She doesn't know what else to do but listen, so she does.

He can continue as much as he needs or wants to.

"All I wanted to know was if he made them like he said he did. 'Cause you know, Mam said he was nice to us when we were little so maybe he did make them and maybe I thought I might be able to tell him that was kind of a nice thing to do and he had to be a complete arse about it right off."

Oh, she thinks.

She just wants to hug him now, but she has the feeling that would not be conducive to him talking more.

She wishes there were something she could say or do to make it better.

Finally, he sughs and hangs his head a little. "I just miss my father and all I get is him."

And if Angela was listening very closely, she may have heard his voice crack a tiny bit.

All Angela is doing is listening.

She comes over and puts an arm around him and kisses his cheek.

"I'm sorry," she says softly. She really, really hates seeing him hurting.

"It's not fair," he says, quiet again, leaning his head against her cheek.

"It isn't," she agrees, closing her eyes and just holding him, stroking the backs of her fingers down his cheek.

Melou sighs again and straightens slightly. "Guess I was better off avoiding him, huh?"

Angela smiles just a tiny bit.

"Most likely," she says quietly.

He smiles back, a little, the usual mask pretty much back in place.

"I should start doing that again. He's not worth it."

"Not if it's going to upset you this much," she says.

She'd comment on him not really needing a mask. Not around her.

But then, she would be one to talk.

Melou makes a bit of a face.

"I'm not upset."

"Well then, it shouldn't matter if you avoid him or not."

Angela shrugs. "But it seems like he's going to avoid you, anyway."

"I would have if it hadn't been for this," he gestures to the toys. "I don't plan on making it a habit to even see him, let alone talk to him."

"Yeah." She hugs him again. She really does wish that they could get along with each other. It might have been a good thing.

"Kind of glad, though, that I know for sure he really is a jerk and that I wasn't being too judgmental last time."

Yeah, but sometimes it hurts to be enlightened that way.

"Yeah...I guess that's a good thing. To know you're not missing anything."

"Exactly," he sort of grins and nuzzles her cheek.

Angela leans in. Her hair is still slightly damp. She holds him a little tighter and smiles back.

"I'm glad you came into the bar yesterday." Even though he was drunk.

She got to take care of him a little.

"Yeah, well, it was nice to see you. The rest I could've done without."

She nods. "Yeah, I know." She cards her fingers through his hair a little bit. "I was just lonely, you know?"

She gets like that sometimes, especially when she's Bound.

He nods and leans into her touch a bit. "Maybe you'll get to go home soon."

"Yeah. I think I need to get back home." Since he seems to like how she's touching him, she keeps doing it.

She sighs. "I liked the way I used to come and go as I pleased. I just hope that when I go home this time it's not another year for me."
