Melou has put the maps away for today, happy enough with what work he did get done on them yesterday before Melehan ruined his mood. But he's not thinking about that right now. He has a date of sorts.

It's getting colder, even at Milliways, so there aren't any jean shorts today, although the t-shirt probably doesn't look so good with his usual trousers. Thankfully, he couldn't care less what his clothes look like.

Melou paces just outside the lake door, waiting for Angela. Girls always take forever.

"That's because they are." He points out, leading her into the trees now that they've crossed the grass around the lake. "Watch your head there."

Angela grins and ducks accordingly, holding on tight to his hand. "But I do have fun," she says. "I might be boring, but on occasion I do have fun."

"uh huh." He sounds unconvinced but then, he's also distracted as he seems to be deliberately trying to find his way somewhere.

She notices the distraction and the unconvinced-ness of his tone. But that's okay. They're together.

"Did you get a lot done yesterday?"

"Enough, although I don't think it will all come to fruition unless I can somehow find a dragon to eat Ireland."

"I think that might be a long shot," she says softly. "Why Ireland? Are they going to give you problems as well?"

"Not so much anymore, it's just the principle of the thing." He looks back at her and grins. "Ships are an idea. Just don't know how to get that to come about either."

Angela nods. "I guess it depends on if anyone you ask to fight with you has a shipyard." It all seems very iffy and uncertain.

"We do, but that's something my Uncle's in charge of. Cornwall will." And that's something to be left until spring.

Finally, he pushes another branch away to show the clearing he and Angela met in once, shortly after her first trip to Wales.

She smiles. "I think I remember this place." They hadn't had to use it more than once.

It's different, obviously, when the trees have much fewer leaves, as they do now.

No, they didn't, because they're bad children who don't listen to their elders and do what they want when it comes to seeing each other anyway.

"Yeah, haven't been out here since that time we met here. Curious to see what it looked like now."

It's rather stark, the trees are huge and there's a thick covering of yellow and orange leaves on the ground. But it's still very quiet, very private, and there are a couple of stones nearby to sit on.

So Angela takes a seat on one of them, looking around. "It's still kinda nice here. Quiet."

She once said that the noise of the bar gave her a headache. The same still holds true.

And Melou, of course, tends to like the incessant buzz of the bar, or of castle life in general. Quiet makes him think.

"Yeah." He kicks some leaves around, enjoying hearing them crunch under his boots. "Probably should have brought stuff for a picnic or something."

Angela shrugs. "Maybe another time. It'll probably be winter by then, but that might be interesting, too."

She looks up at the sky, a bright blue with no clouds. She's so used to the slight smog that always hung in the sky in L.A.

She smiles for no particular reason.

Which makes him smile and he walks over to her and leans down to kiss the top of her head.

"A winter picnic might be fun."

She grins up at him. "We could build a fire out here. That's one thing I could do." She grins.

For once, something she learned in Girl Scouts would come in handy.

"You can do that?" He asks, a little surprised, crouching down in front of her and taking her hands to warm them up a little.

She laughs a little. "Yes. I used to belong to a group that went camping on the weekends and I learned all sorts of things like that, like how to make a lean-to, how to build and maintain a fire, how to cook outside. I did a special course on edible plants and stuff like that."

She looks down at their joined hands and she squeezes them back.

"Really. Well, I'm impressed." And he looks it, too. And then raises his head up for a quick kiss.

She kisses back, blushing a bit. "Thank you." She smiles gently. "It's good to spend some time with you when I can."

He nods.

"Yeah, it is for me too. I do miss you, you know."

She bites her lip a little, then says, "And you know I miss you. I tell you often enough." She leans forward to touch his forehead with hers.

"I know." He kisses her forehead and then her nose and then her lips.

Angela lets her eyes close and leans in. At times like this, she really feels how difficult it is to be so far apart from him in so many ways.

Except for here, of course, where they can meet and be together. But she has to take care, she has to, because she keeps reminding herself that it could all end tomorrow.

One of her hands slides into his hair gently.

Melou is just as aware of how easily this could all end. Maybe even moreso, because he's been thinking lately. About that very thing.

But he really doesn't want to waste his time on thinking about it now.

He smiles a little at the feel of her hand, but doesn't break the kiss, merely settles his hands on her thighs.
