It's a special day. At least, Melou assumes it's supposed to be though there isn't much in the way of celebration happening. Not that he really minds the lack of attention for once.

On the other hand, it's a day that's not just about him. Which is why he's grabbed two glasses of ale and is currently knocking on his brother's door.

He sighs. Forlornly.

"You know I wouldn't."

"I would steal your pillow, though."

"But, you're not going to."

"Not unless you throw it at me."

Melou stands and grabs his empty glass. "But since I'm going to get another drink, that's not likely."

"Shall I venture out with you?"

"Up to you, though it'd probably do you good to get out of your room."

"Start sounding like Sul, and I'll dunk you in the well."

He snorts.

"Remind me not to tell you I went to the library the other day. You'll start wondering who I am."

"It'll help to know I was only there to steal a book."

"...why?"

"It was Angela's birthday," he explains, heading down a flight of stairs toward the kitchens. "She likes books."

"Some poetry book. Catullus or something. She really liked it."

"First a ring, now a book..."

Melou glares at his brother over his shoulder. "I gave Bri the ring. A book's just a book."

He stops, stock still.

"It is not!"

He stops as well, shoulders sagging. "Fine, I know it's not to you, but to me it is. It was just something I knew she'd like."
